On Friday, June 24th, 45 of the brightest minds across Europe arrived at Kilometro Rosso in Bergamo, Italy, to participate in a three-day Hackathon organized by the world’s leading Italian brake manufacturer — Brembo.
Developers, data scientists, engineers, students, and startups arrived to change the future of mobility!
Even the storm on Friday evening couldn’t stop our participants from coming to the event!
6 startups and 30 individuals participated in the first Brembo Hackathon to make a difference in the future of mobility.
What were the challenges?
Startups’ challenge: Digital solutions for the future of mobility
Individuals’ challenge: Enhanced Driving Experience with the Sensify™ Ecosystem
Participants had 36 hours to develop their solutions and to prove that their concepts were the most innovative!
After the warm welcoming, the Opening Ceremony started with an inspirational speech by Daniele Schillaci — Chief Executive Officer of Brembo, and continued with welcome words of encouragement from Mauro Piccoli — Chief Marketing Officer of Brembo.
Then, some of the event’s many sponsors took the stage to greet the participants and encourage them for the next 36 hours. Antonio Sque, Chief Innovation Marketing Commercial Officer of Hevolus Innovation, and Paolo Crippa, Chief Patent Officer on behalf of Jacobacci & Partners.
Lastly, the teams were formed, and participants started their work after dinner! Some of them stayed working all night!
Saturday morning was sunny, and we started with a nice breakfast to boost the energy for the whole day of work. The second day was fully dedicated to the development of solutions. Teams and startups worked on their ideas and had regular meetings with their mentors from Brembo.
A lot of discussions, positive energy, and enthusiasm — this is the Brembo Hackathon.
Teams played ping-pong and table football to relax between their sprints. They also could test the Formula1 Simulator installed in the venue to get an exceptional experience, as well as the Hololens, put at disposal by Hevolus Innovation to test mixed reality.
The area was equipped with comfortable long chairs, sofas, and bean bags so participants could rest whenever they wanted.
Everyone got the opportunity to listen to the conference “How to pitch” to prepare for their final pitches in the best way.
On Sunday, June 26th, after 36 hours of intensive work, each team had the opportunity to pitch their solutions to a jury of professionals:
